Upgrading my Current PC

Aryt, new here so...

Limitations:
1. Budget: 8k
2. Probably thinking of just upgrading the RAM, The Video Card, Hard Drive
3. Maybe add a Cooling system. My Aircon is weak -_-
4. Casing is optional, but if ever, please give suggestions. Something good in terms of Appearance and Awesomness
5. VGA Support and HDMI Support.

I won't be able to give my current PC Specs right now. Out of the Country. What I do remember is that my Ram is already around 2 gig. 260 GB Hard Drive. Cant remember current Video Card, and Motherboard brand.

oh, and it's an Intel Core Duo.

What I do mostly:
1. Steam Games. As in, Hi- Res "WTF Lag on Single Player T-T"
2. Torrenting
3. Surfing the net
4. Multi Tasking
5. Photoshop and stuff.

So, any suggestions on what to get, where and maybe why so I'm sure

Cheers!

Re: Upgrading my Current PC

Welcome to the site smile We need to know the following infos:

1. What is your motherboard (to determine which memory/video card is compatible)
2. OS Installed (32bit or 64bit) (ex. upgrading the memory to 4GB will only use 3.2GB because of 32bit OS limitation)
3. Memory Specs
4. Current Video card specs

Welcome to the site sir. If you've got an Intel Core 2 Duo, the motherboard isnt really THAT old. big_smile So I think, the best I could probably recommend for an 8k budget would be an ATI Radeon 4670, or a 4870(which the pleasantries of image quality would also depend on what monitor size you have, since the 4670 would still be good on a monitor with resolutions of 1600x1024 to 1680x1050 I think.).

If your motherboard has 2-4 RAM slots, then getting another 2gb of ram would do good too(judging from your "1. Steam Games. As in, Hi- Res "WTF Lag on Single Player T-T"" remark. big_smile ). The cost of adding another hard drive, would also depend greatly on what size you'd want get, or how much would be left after purchasing the video card and the RAMs. big_smile

Your hard drive is still good, since most of the programs you've mentioned arent really that big(Utorrent, Mozilla Firefox...), except for MS Office and Photoshop; but 260gb would still be able to cut it. It all depends on what the PC's priority would be. If it's gaming, then an additional 160gb or 320gb hard drive would definitely be nice. big_smile

I hope I was able to help. Keep us posted. smile
